Held it up to the kitchen counter light and the checkerboard really pops, the black squares have that classic handmade glaze ripple while the white stays clean and bright. Even as a tiny sample, it's enough to tell the pattern will anchor a whole backsplash.

The glossy finish on the black squares really makes the pattern pop, while the matte white ones have a nice handmade texture. I held it up against my kitchen backsplash and it’s exactly the contrast I was hoping for.
